Bridgwater and Albion director of rugby Geoff Sluman was delighted with the way his side played against Coney Hill in which they scored 13 converted tries.
“This was a great response by the team after the disappointment of the previous week’s narrow loss away to Devonport Services.
“Often with such a one sided encounter the games structure breaks down but our team showed a great deal of concentration and application in sticking to our game plan. The opposition and the referee should also share the credit for that, because apart from a period where frustrations were clearly putting pressure on Coney Hill he managed the situation well.
“We scored thirteen tries, I think eight through the backs and five through the forwards so pleasingly we were scoring across the team. We played intelligently and controlled how we wanted to play.
“I am not sure if we have ever scored 97 points in a league match before so this squad are starting to set some records. However, after just five games, no one is getting carried away as with all due respect, the results at home have been against some of the teams that are at the bottom of the table.
“Nevertheless, four wins from five games and only three points behind the league leaders is a great place to be.
“Pleasingly there were no major injury concerns from the match so we can take that as a positive too.”
Looking forward to the coming weekend’s fixture away at Keynsham Geoff said: “There are no easy games in this league, I think most teams are capable of beating someone so we will have to be on our guard against Keynsham and most definitely remember the lessons from our last away match.
He added: “Historically, Keynsham have played a very similar game plan to us so we are expecting a competitive game.”
