Bridgwater and Albion have won three of their first five games of the season so far, something that head coach Simon Morrell is more than happy about.

“Before the start of the season we set ourselves a target of three wins out of five and we have achieved it, which is great. However, our game on Saturday at Cullompton was very much one of two halves.

“Given the injury disruptions that we have had to cope with so far this season we are really pleased with the outcome which we would have taken before the game, and at times we were exceptional in the first half.

He went: “I think we were unfortunate to concede six points very early on but to the boys credit they stuck to the script. We have looked at expanding our game over the last couple of weeks and we certainly got more than a glimpse of that in the first half.

“Halftime probably came too soon for us because Cullompton were only just about in the contest at that stage. However we didn’t quite bring the same intensity after the break as we did in the first half, and it let them back into the game.

“We have to say well done to our hosts because they stuck to it well and came at us really hard in the second half.

“In fairness though we are fortunate to have the quality of players that we have who can finish and more importantly we have got that never say die attitude and fight and we don’t fold.

“At one stage just after the hour we could crumbled but we hung on in there. We probably had just one opportunity in the whole half and we took it.

“Afterwards we celebrated hard because if you look at the people who are still missing it felt really good to come home with the five points.”

On Saturday the Albion entertain second placed Drybrook, who on Saturday scored 113 points against visitors Bideford, so Morrell’s boys know that they face a tough side.

The head coach said: “They are the form side at the moment , but it is such a bizarre league and I am sure if Bideford hosted Drybrook next week it would be a different outcome.

Morrell added: “The home advantage is huge and there is no doubt about that and this is going to be a hard challenge, but I think that we are ready for it. If we can get some points out of it then we would be fairly happy going in the break a week after.”
