Dear Member,

Firstly, I trust that you and your families have remained safe and well during these difficult times.

Since the 2019/20 season finished, abruptly, earlier in the year, the Club has had to be managed without any operating revenue, but with fixed and ongoing costs to cover. We have had no rugby football and the associated gate and bar revenue since February, with little prospect of this changing in the immediate future. Lettings revenue stopped completely at the same time and we have only recently had very limited day lettings as well as drinks income from some Saturday afternoons outside bar trading.

We have held off our decision on membership for 2020/21 because of the uncertainty. However, we are a member’s club and membership is a core income. So, we have decided to maintain the membership at 2019/20 prices for 2020/21, irrespective of current uncertainties. Please find attached a membership renewal form for your attention and return.

Whilst we appreciate that the start of the playing season currently remains unknown, the Club (our Club) needs the support of its membership (us) in committing to this season. Players and coaching staff are training in readiness for the season. A number of people have worked hard to create a new outside bar for some summer revenue. The committee has been meeting every week, since March, to ensure that we react promptly to the changing situation with government support initiatives, available grants, COVID guidance, etc.

It is not only the playing of rugby football that is a team sport. Keeping our Club going at this time is also one – to win we will all need to play our part.

Here’s hoping for a swift return to ‘normality’ and the enjoyment of rugby at Bridgwater and Albion RFC.

Best regards,

Steve Smith

Chairman
